The 20th edition of the Five Flavours Asian Film Festival will take place in Warsaw cinemas from 10 to 17 November 2026, marking an important milestone for the event dedicated to cinema from East, South, and Southeast Asia. Following the theatrical screenings, the festival’s online programme will remain available until 6 December. The festival’s well known Five Flavours replicas will once again travel beyond the capital, returning to Łódź and Wrocław from 12 to 15 November, and to Poznań from 19 to 22 November.
For two decades, the Five Flavours Asian Film Festival has introduced Polish audiences to the diversity of Asian cinema. Beyond presenting a wide selection of titles from across the region, the festival also places them within a broader cultural context, offering audiences perspectives on the social, political, and cultural dynamics shaping contemporary Asia. Over the years, the event has become an important platform for Asian cinema in Poland and remains the only festival in the country devoted exclusively to the region.
The 20th edition will also serve as an opportunity to reflect on the festival’s history and development. Coinciding symbolically with the Year of the Fire Horse, the anniversary programme promises an energetic edition that will look both to the past and the future, celebrating the legacy of Five Flavours while continuing to explore new directions for Asian cinema.
Organisers also announced that the festival has received three year support from the City of Warsaw and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, providing an important boost for its continued development. The project is further supported by the Polish Film Institute, while a grant from the Accessible Culture programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage will allow the festival to expand initiatives aimed at improving accessibility for audiences with disabilities.
The full programme will be announced and ticket sales will begin on 20 October. Until then, the festival will gradually reveal the sections and selected titles that will shape this special anniversary edition.
Screenings in Warsaw will take place at Kino Muranów, Kinoteka, and Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, where the Kinomuzeum cinema space will host part of the programme. Festival replicas will continue at the National Centre for Film Culture in Łódź, Kino Nowe Horyzonty in Wrocław, and Kino Pałacowe in Poznań.
