Australia's very own Rose Byrne was up for Best Actress this year, but missed out to Hamnet's Jessie Buckley. As for Best Actor that went to first time Oscar winner Michael B. Jordan for Sinners. But the big sweep of the evening was One Battle After Another. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, the action-drama film went into the night with a whopping 13 nominations and secured six awards including Best Director and Best Picture.IRANIAN SOCCER PLAYERSFive members of the Iranian women's soccer team have decided to return home. The team, which were here to play in the Women's Asian Cup, were offered by the Australian government the opportunity to stay here in Australia after the tournament finished. There had been calls from the public for the Aussie government to protect the players, after they were called traitors on Iranian State Television for not singing their national anthem at the start of their opening match. While seven team members had accepted the government's offer to stay in Australia and were granted humanitarian visas, five have now decided to return to Iran.WINTER PARALYMPICSIt's been an action packed 10 days at the Winter Paralympics in Milano-Cortina, Italy. Which as the name suggests sees an array of hot air balloons fill the skies of the capital. Crowds turned out to watch, some even kayaked to get a better view. Although one kayaker got more than he bargained for when a Balloon crashed into him and knocked him into the water.
