The Cannes Film Festival will unveil the lineup of its 79th edition on April 9 at a press conference in Paris hosted by the festival’s president Iris Knobloch and general delegate Thierry Fremaux.
The next edition will take place May 12-23 with a jury presided over by South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook who will be succeeding Juliette Binoche.
Some of the high profile films that could be in the pipeline include Ruben Östlund’s “The Entertainment System Is Down” with Keanu Reeves and Kirsten Dunst; Nicolas Winding Refn’s “Her Private Hell” starring Charles Melton and Sophie Thatcher; Asghar Farhadi’s “Parallel Tales” starring Catherine Deneuve and Isabelle Huppert; Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Digger” starring Tom Cruise” and Steven Spielberg’s “Disclosure Day” starring Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor.

After a banner 2025 that saw the Palme d’Or-winning “Anora” sweep five Academy Awards, Cannes reclaimed once again its reputation as the leading launchpad for international movies in the Oscars race. Joachim Trier‘s “Sentimental Value,” Kleber Mendonça Filho’s “The Secret Agent,” Oliver Laxe’s “Sirat” and three more Croisette alumni garnered a total of 19 nominations across 12 categories at this year’s Oscars.
