The God Of War Prime Video television series will reportedly take influence from the two most recent games in the PlayStation series that was originally created by David Jaffe – 2018’s God Of War and 2022’s Ragnarok.
Advertisement A synopsis reads: “Father and son Kratos and Atreus embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.”
Now, fans have been given a first glimpse at the show, with Ryan Hurst in full flow in the role of Kratos and Callum Vinson by his side as Atreus.
“Father and Son. Behold your first look at Kratos and Atreus in the God of War series now in production for @primevideo,” read an Instagram post, with the image attached. “Their journey to the highest peak begins.”

In January, it was announced that Hurst, who played Kratos’ rival Thor in Ragnarok, would actually be taking on the role of Kratos in the television version.

Hurst previously played Beta in The Walking Dead and Opie in Sons Of Anarchy. He’s also appeared in Saving Private Ryan, We Were Soldiers and is set to star in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming history epic The Odyssey.
Earlier this week, further cast announcements were made, with Severance star Ólafur Darri Ólafsson set to play God of Thunder Thor, Teresa Palmer as Thor’s wife Sif, Max Parker in the role of Heimdall and Mandy Patinkin as Odin. Ed Skrein, meanwhile, will play main antagonist Baldur.
Prime Video has already ordered two seasons of God Of War, with Ronald D. Moore serving as showrunner. There’s currently no release date for the show and filming is set to begin later this year. Moore previously angered fans by admitting he hadn’t actually played the video game series.
