Which is amazing, except that getting up close and personal becomes a little more of a challenge. One of Vancouver’s favourite sons, Dan Mangan has played all of the aforementioned venues over the course of a career that caught fire in 2009.The singer-songwriter’s trajectory began with the anthemic “Robots” off 2009’s indie-pop triumph Nice, Nice, Very Nice. Admirably, he then made the decision to immediately mix things up. Video of Dan Mangan - Fire Escape (Official Video) The anthems have still been there on follow-up records like Oh Fortune, More or Less, and Being Somewhere. But you also get adventurous art-pop, acoustic balladry, and meditative soundscapes. On that last front, the next time it all seems like too much, cue up “Fire Escape”, knowing that you aren’t alone, even when it seems that way.The reason for the short history lesson today? Mangan took to Instagram today to announce a show where he’s going right back to his beginnings, with an intimate and interactive evening in Vancouver.  This morning saw the singer tease a free pop-up gig at a venue TBA, with the concert taking place at 7pm this Thursday (March 12). All you have to do is text 310-347-4597 and then pray to your favourite deity that you’re one of the lucky ones. And if you are, see you in the front, which will be doubly amazing if you were back in the beginnings. Sometimes, you can go home again. https://www.instagram.com/p/DVqyBU6lE3k/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ== Join the discussion Facebook comments not loading?
