deary Share New Song "Alma": Listen
Skip to ContentNew Musicdeary – “Alma”By Tom Breihan9:20 AM EDT on March 18, 2026Share on FacebookShare on RedditShare on EmailShare on BlueskyJosh HightThe dreamy, shimmery dream-pop and shoegaze sounds of the early '90s are awfully popular right now, and London trio deary mess around with those sounds with way more cinematic panache than most of their peers. Their sound isn't hugely, original, but you can still get lost in it. In a few weeks, they'll release their debut album Birding, and we've already posted the lovely singles "Seabird" and "Alfie." Today, we get another one. deary's new song "Alma" is an extended rippling sigh, and it sounds like an invitation to crawl under some blankets and lazily bliss out all day long. In a press release, bandleader Rebecca "Dottie" Cockram says, "I see 'Alma' as an embodiment of our band. It has been with us for a long time and changed with us along the way. In the past four years, we have grown into ourselves and have a much clearer idea of what deary is. In this song, I am talking to my younger self, who made the decision to look after us and become a better person."In the Limb-directed video for "Alma," identical twin sisters Robin and Charly Faye stand above a cloudy ocean and sing the song to each other. It's nice.
