The show was originally announced with a pilot order at the basic cabler in June 2025. As previously reported, the show hails from Peter Gould and stars Victoria Pedretti, Kiera Allen, Karl Glusman, Alan Ruck, Katja Herbers, Eddie Marsan and Jonathan Higginbotham. Discovery Merger Mean for TV’s Premium Pioneer? “’Disinherited’ is exactly the kind of bold, character-driven storytelling that defines FX,” said Gina Balian, president of FX Entertainment. “With Peter Gould at the helm, this is a deeply human story about family, power and consequence, that plays with high moral stakes. And at the center of it all is a pair of sisters for whom it’s impossible not to root for as we watch this David vs. Goliath story unfold.” Gould is the writer and executive producer of “Disinherited,” while he also directed the pilot. Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman and Nena Rodrigue of T-Street executive produce. FX Productions is the studio. This is the latest FX series order in recent months. The network has also greenlit a “Snowfall” spinoff starring Gail Bean and Isaiah John and a “Far Cry” TV series hailing from Noah Hawley and Rob Mac. Gould was previously the co-creator and showrunner on the hit AMC series “Better Call Saul.” Gould also directed multiple episodes of that series, including the series finale. He was also a writer and producer on “Breaking Bad,” to which “Better Call Saul” was a prequel. His other credits include writing the HBO movie “Too Big to Fail.” Pedretti broke out with her role in Mike Flanagan’s Netflix series “The Haunting of Hill House” as well as for playing Love Quinn in the hit Netflix series “You.” She would re-team with Flanagan on “The Haunting of Bly Manor.” She has also starred in films like “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” “Origin,” and “Ponyboi.” Allen is best known for her work opposite Sarah Paulson in Hulu’s psychological thriller film “Run.” She will next be seen in Jonathan Sobol’s “Littlemouth” opposite Dennis Quaid and Josh Hutcherson.
