After grossing $238 million worldwide, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will make its streaming debut on Peacock April 3.
Based on the wildly popular video game series, the sequel will be accompanied by extras and behind-the-scenes featurettes on the streamer.
Five Nights at Freddy’s creator Scott Cawthon returns to pen the script, with Emma Tammi back in the director’s chair.
One year has passed since the supernatural nightmare at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. The stories about what transpired there have been twisted into a campy local legend, inspiring the town’s first ever Fazfest.
Former security guard Mike and police officer Vanessa have kept the truth from Mike’s 11-year-old sister, Abby, concerning the fate of her animatronic friends.
But when Abby sneaks out to reconnect with Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy, it will set into motion a terrifying series of events, revealing dark secrets about the true origin of Freddy’s, and unleashing a long-forgotten horror hidden away for decades.
Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Theodus Crane, and Matthew Lillard reprise their roles from the first film, joined by Skeet Ulrich, Freddy Carter, Wayne Knight, Mckenna Grace, Skeet Ulrich, and the voice of Megan Fox.
Jim Henson’s Creature Shop returned to design animatronics for the film. Cawthon produces alongside Jason Blum. Executive producers include Tammi, Beatriz Sequeira, Christopher Warner, Russell Binder, and Marc Mostman.
Meagan Navarro wrote in her review, “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is less of a movie and more of a series of fan service moments, Easter eggs, and teases of the overarching game lore, held together by baffling plot choices and characters acting with complete stupidity at every possible turn.”
