Palisades Park Pictures has acquired international sales on the feature, which has a global theatrical rollout set for August, with Inaugural Entertainment handling U.S. distribution. Related Stories Variety Hires Marlow Stern as Chief Correspondent The film, which premiered in Toronto, stars Mason Thames, Mckenna Grace, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Sean Gunn, Bobby Lee and Fred Armisen, while Green Day members Billie Joe Armstrong, Tré Cool and Mike Dirnt also appear and perform. “Nimrods” is a coming-of-age film centering on three high school friends who set out on a wild road trip under the mistaken assumption that their fledgling band has been booked to open for Green Day on New Year’s Eve. Popular on Variety The film is produced by Armstrong, Dirnt and Cool, alongside Tim Perell for Process. Executive producers include Ryan Kroft and Michael Rapino for Live Nation Studios, and Jonathan Daniel. “Lee has crafted a coming-of-age comedy with real heart and edge that captures the chaos, humor, and ambition of youth in a way that feels both authentic and relatable,” said Tamara Birkemoe, CEO of Palisades Park Pictures. “With the cultural energy of Green Day at its core, and a rising star cast, we can’t wait for audiences to experience Nimrods.” Kirk, who previously directed Armstrong in Universal’s “Ordinary World,” helmed “Nimrods” from his own script that he developed with the band and Live Nation Studios. Kirk’s other credits include the comedy “Pants on Fire” and the offbeat rom-com “The Giant Mechanical Man” starring Jenna Fischer and Topher Grace.
