Harry Styles Says Seeing Radiohead Inspired His Return to Touring
For his upcoming “Together, Together” residency tour, Harry Styles is taking inspiration from Radiohead’s recent comeback trek. Discussing his new album Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Styles went deep on how spending time and recording in Berlin shaped the new project’s sound. When asked what made him want to return to the stage, Styles told Lowe that “Dancing in Berlin” to Radiohead was a major catalyst. “I went to see Radiohead in Berlin, and felt so part of the audience,” Styles said. “I had a very clear moment of: ‘This is why I get on stage.'” Get Harry Styles Tickets Here He continued: “I’m watching this and feeling everything that’s happening around me in the crowd. There’s people picking up each other’s things and people are bringing each other things. It’s this sense of strangers looking at each other and massaging each other’s shoulders when someone’s emotional and looking into the eyes of a stranger and screaming out a chorus together. I had a moment of like, ‘I’m there so that people can have this’, you know? I’m soundtracking this.” Related Video Styles had previously named a pair of LCD Soundsystem shows as big inspirations for this new era, telling BBC Radio 1 earlier this year that seeing them “was so joyous… When you’re watching them be so immersed in it, I think the inspiration from them came of like, ‘oh, that’s how I want to feel when I’m on stage’. And then that kind of led to the kind of music I was making.” Advertisement Regarding the choice to mount these shows in residency format as opposed to a traditional tour, Styles feels that it enhances the experience. “I mean, I think a lot of the thinking behind it for me is about, I think it makes the show better,” Styles said. “I think you can build something that doesn’t have to travel every night. I think the show itself is better. I think there’s something in this that allows me to like stay in my life while I’m doing it. And therefore I think it allows me to take care of myself better, which I think makes me better at doing the thing.” Watch the interview with Zane Lowe and Harry Styles below, with Styles discussing Radiohead around 24:38. Styles will bring his “Together, Together” residency to seven cities around the world beginning in May 2026, including 30 shows at Madison Square Garden.
