Taaha Shah Badusha, Paresh Pahuja, Aakanksha Singh and Nikita Dutta are set to lead “Nazdeekiyan,” a new series from Karan Johar‘s Dharmatic Entertainment at Prime Video India.
Variety understands that the project is an adaptation of Johar’s 2006 film “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.”
Produced by Johar, Adar Poonawalla and Apoorva Mehta, the series follows two couples whose lives are thrown into upheaval when their spouses are drawn into an all-consuming relationship, forcing each to choose between duty and desire. The logline maps closely onto “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna,” Johar’s film about marital dissatisfaction and infidelity that starred Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta and Abhishek Bachchan.

For Badussha, the project marks a return to the Dharma fold after “Gippi” and “Baar Baar Dekho,” and comes on the heels of a career-defining turn in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Heeramandi” on Netflix, in which he played Nawab Tajdar. The U.A.E.-born actor, who made his screen debut in “Luv Ka The End,” has also appeared in “Taj: Divided by Blood” and “Ranchi Diaries,” and “Paro – The Untold Story of Bride Slavery,” which addresses bride trafficking, earned him wider international visibility.
“Today feels very special,” the actor said. “From being a part of Dharma’s ‘Gippi’ and ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ to now collaborating again with Karan Johar, it truly feels like a full-circle journey. After working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir, I’m excited to explore a completely new space with ‘Nazdeekiyan.’ I’m grateful and really looking forward to audiences experiencing it.”
