Olivia Dean and Lola Young, who won Grammys on Feb. 1 in high-profile categories (best new artist and best pop solo vocal performance, respectively), are the leading nominees at the BRITs, with five nods each. Sam Fender follows close behind with four nominations, with Dave, Wolf Alice, Lily Allen, Fred again.. and Jim Legaxcy each earning three nods. Comedian Jack Whitehall is hosting the ceremony for a sixth time. The awards were voted on by BRITs Voting Academy, comprised of industry figures, artists, critics and more. The song of the year and international song of the year categories were voted for by fans via WhatsApp. The BRITs announced its first winner on Jan. 20. Scottish folk artist Jacob Alon was named the winner in the Critics’ Choice category, seeing off competition from Sienna Spiro and Rose Gray. Four other awards were announced prior to the ceremony – Noel Gallagher is collecting songwriter of the year, PinkPantheress is earning producer of the year and Mark Ronson is receiving the award for outstanding contribution to music. The late Ozzy Osbourne will be honored with a posthumous lifetime achievement award and a tribute performance led by Robbie Williams.
