Two film producers have been quietly building a slate of feature films under the banner Roosevelt Film Lab, which they’re now officially launching at SXSW.
Founded by Jon Wroblewski and Christian Sosa, the Austin-based Roosevelt will specialise in development, packaging and production of films across various genres, and comes to SXSW with two buzzy titles premiering at the festival.

First up is “Family Home,” the directorial debut of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick in which they star alongside their children Travis Bacon and Sosie Bacon. In true meta style, the feature sees a filmmaking family’s low-budget horror movie turn into a real-life slasher when a dead body shows up on set.
Then there’s “American Dollhouse,” a genre title from rising filmmaker John Valley and shot entirely in Austin with a hometown cast and crew. The film follows a woman whose psychotic neighbor becomes disturbingly obsessed with her due to a haunting resemblance to the neighbor’s deceased mother and, as per the description, leads to a “perverted, blood-soaked Christmas nightmare she may not survive.”

Sales for “Family Movie” are being handled by CAA, Range Media Partners and Neon while sales for “American Dollhouse” are being handled by Roosevelt Film Lab.
“Roosevelt was built to support a story at every stage — from early development through production and release. As the marketplace is continuously evolving, we’re here to support filmmakers, from the first idea through exhibition,” said Wroblewski
Added Sosa: “Our goal is to help create exceptional storytelling with talented filmmakers. We want our projects to spark conversation among festivals, buyers, and audiences. We’re thrilled to be on the ground at SXSW in our home city of Austin.”
Alongside “Family Home” and “American Dollhouse,” Roosevelt has a production slate of several other recently-completed elevated projects.
Among them are Oscar Boyson’s “Our Hero Balthazar,” due for release in March and starring Jaeden Martell, Asa Butterfield, Chris Bauer and Noah Centineo, “Down the Arm of God,” the passion project of Caleb Landry Jones, who co-wrote and stars in the film, which was produced in collaboration with Luc Besson of EuropaCorp, and “Six Till Midnight,” starring Sasha Lane and Bella Poarch, produced in collaboration with Majd Nassif and Timur Bekmambetov and now in post-production.
Also in post is “Mattress Mack,” directed by Shane Andries and starring Billy Magnussen, Dianna Agron, Darby Lee-Stack and Rob Corddry, the neo-western thriller “Bethesda,” starring Max Martini, Brianna Hildebrand, James Landry Hebert, Veronica Falcon and Julio Cesar Cedillo, and “Skinemax,” starring Rory Culkin, Paris Jackson, Crispin Glover, Mark Boone Junior and GaTa. Meanwhile, “Do No Harm,” starring Harry Shum Jr., Rosaline Elbay, Ronny Chieng, and Jimmy Gonzales and directed by Chris Hartwell, is now completed and in the sales cycle.
The Roosevelt Film Lab team are set to be on the ground at SXSW and all upcoming major festivals and markets.
