Korn‘s Ra Diaz has been reunited with 15 bass guitars that were stolen from a storage space near Las Vegas roughly two weeks ago, thanks to a community effort involving concerned citizens and police officers.
According to Fox 5 Las Vegas, a number of the instruments were discovered by local musician and tattoo artist Dave Chipp, who first noticed one of the basses in a Henderson, Nevada, music shop, roughly 16 miles from Las Vegas. He recognized a number of telling signs on the basses, including RA ST on the twelfth fret and a Chilean flag on another instrument. Diaz, who formerly played in Suicidal Tendencies, is of Chilean descent.

Chipp then was able to locate more of the stolen instruments at other music shops, and notified Henderson police, and it was only a few days after those first discoveries that all the instruments, as well as an amp, several effects pedals, and personalized memorabilia, were located, although no arrests have been made thus far.

Diaz was able to recover the stolen goods at the police station, and thanked the officers in charge, stating on Instagram:
A couple weeks ago a storage unit of mine got broken into and tons of my basses were stolen. I want to give a HUGE shout out to the @hendersonpolicedepartment and the Property Crimes Unit for their quick response, amazing support and actually being able to recover ALL OF THE BASSES!!!! As a musician I’ve heard tons of stolen gear and equipment horror stories. I can’t believe how lucky I am that mine has a happy ending thanks to them. The amount of sentimental value some of these instruments have is impossible to explain and the fact that they’re now safe in my possession is truly a blessing. Thank you so much as well to my good friend @chris.waiau for his help and for being the one that notified me that this happened after @davepikey_tattooer texted him a photo of one of my basses being sold at a store. If it wasn’t because of their quick action and response this story could have had a different ending. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Jameson Harding, the detective in charge of the case, said, “One [bass] that we recovered had a Chilean flag on it. And Mr. Diaz is from Chile. And so, they’re getting ready to tour there. He was just super thankful that we found that guitar because he said his plan the whole time was to come back to Vegas for Sic New World, get that guitar and take it on tour with him. So, it was really cool to be able to give him that. It’s obviously part of his heritage. He wants to have that with him on this next leg of their tour.”
The officer added, “They hung out for a couple of minutes with us in the office, just going over his stuff. He just seems like such a super guy. Extremely nice, very friendly with our staff here. And he’s been super thankful.”

Diaz replaced original Korn bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu after the latter stepped away of the band in 2021. Korn recently released the new single “Reward the Scars” for the Diablo IV expansion Lord of Hatred out now, which received our nod for Heavy Song of the Week. They are currently preparing for a Latin American tour with Spiritbox and Seven Hours After Violent to commence May 2nd, with a European tour to follow in October.
