In September, Amazon Prime Video green-lit a Life Is Strange adaptation. The series will be written by Charlie Covell (Kaos, The End Of The F******g World), who will also serve as executive producer and showrunner. Square Enix, who owns the Life Is Strange IP, will produce the adaptation alongside Margot Robbie’s production company Lucky Chap and Story Kitchen, a company that “specialises in franchise farming”.
Advertisement Now the first two names for the show have been announced.
Stage actor Tatum Grace Hopkins will be playing Chloe Price while Maisy Stella (Nashville, My Old Ass) will star as Max Caulfield. “Max is a photography student, who discovers she can rewind time while saving the life of her childhood best friend, Chloe,” reads an official logline for the Life If Strange show. “As she struggles to understand this new skill, the pair investigate the mysterious disappearance of a fellow student, uncovering a dark side to their town that will ultimately force them to make an impossible life or death choice that will impact them forever.”

In a statement, Story Kitchen wrote: “We have always believed that Life Is Strange deserved to be more than just a game—it’s a cultural touchstone. Together, this thoughtfully assembled dream team is ready to share Life Is Strange with the world in an entirely new way!”
However, original Life Is Stranger writer Christian Divine has criticised the adaptation. “The only people not involved are the creators,” he wrote on X shortly after the series was announced. “Seeing the game created by Michel Koch, Roal Barbet, Jean-Luc Cano and our Don’tNod team becoming a show is an incredible honour,” added Don’tNod studio executive producer Luc Baghadoust, celebrating the team behind the original game.

The original Life Is Strange game was released in 2015 and follows Max Caulfield as she tries to prevent the death of her best friend Chloe. A number of spin-offs followed and 2023 saw the release of direct sequel Double Exposure. New Life Is Strange game Reunion will launch later this month and “conclude” the story of Max and Chloe.
In other news, God Of War creator David Jaffe has slated the first-look image of Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming live-action adaptation: “It is so bad in so many ways.”
