Lil Nas X was back in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday (March 12) for his felony police battery case.
According to Rolling Stone, the “Old Town Road” artist’s attorney, Christy O’Connor, said she would file a motion to delay the case so that Lil Nas X’s team could have the legal matter transferred to a diversion program. If that happens, the charges could be dropped altogether if Lil Nas X (Montero Lamar Hill) completes an agreed-upon treatment program.

Lil Nas X is expected to be back in court on April 6.
The Grammy winner made a brief statement to reporters outside the Van Nuys courthouse on Thursday, but didn’t field any questions surrounding the case.
“All I wanted to say is to my fans, I really love, and I miss you, and I appreciate your support so much, and I can’t wait to be back hugging you guys,” he said. “You guys, have a good day.”
Before leaving the courthouse area, according to Dillon, Lil Nas X encountered a street entertainer, who played Radiohead’s “Lucky” on guitar — leading Lil Nas to tip him $100.
The 26-year-old was arrested in the early hours of Aug. 21 after being found walking in traffic in Los Angeles’ Studio City neighborhood. Authorities allege that a struggle ensued when police attempted to apprehend Lil Nas X, which led to three officers being injured.
The rapper was charged with resisting an officer and three counts of battery. He was hospitalized following the altercation, which saw him allegedly charge officers on the scene. He’s since pleaded not guilty to the charges, but faces a maximum of five years behind bars if convicted.
Back in September, Lil Nas’ attorneys revealed he was a patient in a facility outside of California.
On the music side, Lil Nas released his Days Before Dreamboy EP last March and is slated to drop his Dreamboy album later in 2026.
