Madonna Producer Says She’s Ignored His 'Ray Of Light 2' For 20 Years
Skip to ContentNewsAs Madonna Readies Confessions On A Dance Floor 2, William Orbit Says She’s Ignored His Ray Of Light 2 For 20 YearsBy Abby Jones12:50 PM EDT on March 18, 2026Share on FacebookShare on RedditShare on EmailShare on BlueskyPascal Le Segretain/Getty Images For a while now, Madonna has been teasing Confessions On A Dance Floor 2 — the sequel to her 2005 album — and buzz around it has only increased since caught her apparently filming a big scale music video earlier this month. Meanwhile William Orbit, the main producer and co-writer of Madonna's 1998 smash Ray Of Light, says she's been ignoring his proposals to make a Ray Of Light 2.Orbit explained the ordeal in a wild Facebook post early this morning, saying that for 20 years, he's had "an album ready that is indeed the successor to ROL" (Orbit had a smaller studio role in making Ray Of Light's 2000 follow-up Music). "Everything about how it was made and how it sounds yells that from the first few bars," he wrote. "I speak with many close to her, including fam, but have not had a single syllable back in over two decades."Orbit added that he has "absolute zero hard feelings" towards Madonna and that he "will always love that woman." See his post below, along with some paparazzi shots for the unspecified music video in question.Right. Let’s put this Madonna ROL 2.0 thing to rest here and now folks. Can get exhaustingIs NOT going to happen.Look, why don’t I just lay it out, cos I get asked constantlyI have an album ready that imho is indeed the successor to ROL.Everything about how it was made and how it sounds yells that from the first few bars. And I reached out. And there has been heard. Nil response. A week later. I speak with many close to her, including fam, but have not had a single syllable back in over two decades. There I said it. I only sort of hint we’re pals so’s not to ignite a firestorm of speculation. And wish nothing to come over as bitter because in my life and art now I’m finally where I want to be and the very opposite of bitter. Sweet as a nut. But interpersonl relations, you know. Human stuff. . No idea whatsoever what’s in her head. I believe she is very happy, she looks fabulous and full of life in recent pics i’ve seen, although I don’t really follow . Busy lives all of us. But yeah, last time we spoke was at in Midtown Manhattan, MSR Studios, for MDNAZero zero absolute zero hard feelings. Are you kidding, I will always love that woman. For real. She made my careerBut am I crying?Look at me. Crying with mirth and glee these days. You can’t shut me up squeaking and squawking about the table of lovely musical goodies laid before meSo there you have it. I am writing a book, and that’s where I will put that entire story along with my candid reflections. Not going to do it here cos it’s quite the backwater(quite the lovely lagoon though, as I see it. We're all pals)This book: Some deep chaptersSome pop gossSome cartoon artAnd I breathe one-linersHave transitioned now to a man for whom Fs are no longer on offerZero fucks. For the music bizBut who likes to hear somebody go on about feeling goodSo, for the history books, she doesn’t love me any more waaaaaaaaaaaah”awwwNo icon for billyNever mind, there’ll be another one alongFor my ROL 2And this time Billy’s Goes Full Gonzo#iscreamyouscreamweallscreamicecream? There’s something else going on all day today today, hang on . . .Madonna on location of her new music video!
