Daedalic Entertainment and developer DALOAR have announced an April 8 launch for The Occultist, which had been previously delayed from a 2025 launch. In addition to the Standard Edition of the game, there will be a Deluxe Edition, which includes a 200-page digital art book and the soundtrack by Pepe Herrero.
In The Occultist, players take on the role of paranormal investigator Alan Rebels, who travels to the mysterious island of GodStone to determine the cause of the sudden disappearance of his father. Even though he mentioned the island repeatedly over the decades, all that Alan really knows is that his father was born and spent his early years there.
However, Alan does not travel alone. He carries with him his mystical pendulum, an object of unknown origin that accompanied him on all his past paranormal investigations. As he explores the foggy streets and maddening buildings, apparently being the only things that remain on the mysterious island of GodStone, it becomes clear: This will be a case unlike any other.
Key to the gameplay is Rebels’ pendulum, which offers five unique mechanics to interact with and manipulate the environment. You’ll need the pendulum’s powers in order to solve the various puzzles you’ll encounter, as well as you having to utilize stealth tactics to avoid drawing unwanted attention on your mission.
The Occultist will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam. The updated demo from Steam Next Fest is still available.
