That joy is exactly what we want to celebrate in our annual Golden Plates Awards. The 29th iteration of the Straight's reader-voted awards take place, as they always do, over two rounds. As of March 16, nominations are open. This is a write-in round, where the world is your oyster (or mushroom, or croissant, or whatever you fancy). They will close on March 29 at 11 p.m.After nominations, we tabulate the most-loved entries. The top 5 become the finalists for each category, so if you want your under-the-radar favourite to do well, make sure you get the word out to your friends and rally the voters.The second round of voting will open on April 13 at 12 p.m., and close on April 26 at 11 p.m. This is a one-vote category, where you simply choose from five choices in each category and the most-voted-for entry becomes the winner. This year, categories span four delicious divisions:Best of the Bunch: Top-tier bakeries, breweries, coffee shops, patios, and moreBest Restaurant by Cuisine: From Filipino to French to First Nations, every flavour has its momentBest Restaurant by Neighbourhood: Hyperlocal shoutouts from Kits to Commercial DriveBest Specialty Items: Dishes, drinks, and sweet treats—all fair gameSo, with all that information out of the way, get to nominating your favourites now.  Join the discussion Facebook comments not loading?
