Netflix has unleashed the official trailer for Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola’s (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Dead Snow, Violent Night) new shark attack horror movie Thrash, which will begin streaming on April 10. The film is rated “R” for “Bloody violent content, some grisly images, and language.” Watch the trailer for Netflix and Tommy Wirkola’s Thrash below. The film looks similar to Alexandre Aja’s Crawl, with a massive storm and a subsequent comedy of misfortune unleashing man-eating predators in an environment they were never supposed to be in. Knowing the work of Wirkola, we expect he won’t be shying away from the gory shark carnage! In Thrash, “When a Category 5 hurricane decimates a coastal town, the storm surge brings devastation, chaos…and something far more frightening: hungry sharks.” Wirkola said, “I became obsessed with sharks after Jaws—and Jaws 2, which is an underrated movie. I spent a lot of my childhood obsessing over sharks and whatever movie was made about that subject. Fast forward to a world going off its rails when it comes to global warming and flash floods happening everywhere, and it dawned on me that this could be a great setting-off point for a movie, combining the idea of a disaster-movie with a shark-thriller.” Producer Adam McKay adds, “More and more, you’re hearing marine biologists acknowledge that climate is changing where these sharks go. It’s changing how they behave. So, in as much as this is an edge-of-your-seat popcorn film, the science behind it is not implausible.” Phoebe Dynevor (“Bridgerton”), Whitney Peak (Hocus Pocus 2), and Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place: Part II) star in Tommy Wirkola’s Thrash. The cast for the Netflix shark attack horror movie also includes Alyla Browne, Stacy Clausen, Costa D’Angelo, Amy Mathews, Elijah Ungvary, Dante Ubaldi, Jon Prasida, Gemma Dart, Akosia Sabet, Sian Luxford and Sami Afuni.
