Benetone Film/Fearfolks
Thailand’s Benetone Films and Fearfolks have set Pae Arak and Weir Sukollawat to lead the cast of “Cher,” an upcoming Thai horror epic currently in pre-production in Bangkok.
Arak is known for “The Stone” and “In Youth We Trust,” while Sukollawat previously starred in “Bangkok Breaking” and “Home for Rent.” The two actors recently shared the screen in the Thai action film “4 Tigers,” which ranked among the top-grossing Thai releases of 2025, earning over THB102 million baht ($3.2 million) locally and holding the No. 1 spot at the box office for four consecutive weeks.

“Cher” centers on a police officer whose investigation into a vine-covered corpse found near a remote mining camp encroaching on sacred forestland brings him into conflict with his estranged brother’s secrets — and draws out rumors of a vengeful Thai forest spirit whose wrath may be connected to a mysterious young woman.

The script comes from Patrick Graham, the writer behind Netflix’s Indian horror series “Ghoul” and “Betaal,” with Songsak Mongkolthong (“School Tales the Series,” “Graveyard Horror”) attached to direct.
Fearfolks CEO Hans Audric Estialbo is handling international sales on the project at this year’s Hong Kong FilMart.
“As die-hard fans of the genre, we’re thrilled to bring this dark vision to life, and scare audiences with a timeless tale for years to come,” said producer Kulthep Narula. “I couldn’t be more excited to work with this amazing cast and our wonderful producing partners.”
“True horror reveals the heart of a culture. We are proud to empower Thai storytellers to turn our local legends into the world’s next great cinematic and box office masterpieces,” said Benetone Films CEO Rachvin Narula.
“Championing our horror cinema on the global stage is a testament to the world-class caliber of Thai talent, proving that our unique cultural lens can masterfully captivate a universal audience,” Estialbo added.
“Cher” is targeting a 2028 release.
