ArtsNews FacebookXLinkedinCopy URL Submitted Photo Emerald Hill, author and writer Emerald Hill is just at the beginning of her young live as she graduated from Grade 12 and looking forward to following up with a career in Theatre Arts particularly drama. She started writing in her Grade 3 and her first work was titled The Haunted Bonny. After that she put her writing skills into another piece before she finally  started writing her third piece – The Warlock – at 15 and last year, precisely in  Oct. 2025 she completed it and despite the challenges she faced as a young author and writer she got it published. The Warlock: The Shattered World, is a 448 paged Sci-fi that features the Protagonist, Agent Nikolai as he searches for that which can secure the innocent people. A war starts and surely each party in the novel will count its loses and wins at the end of the day. “It is a more modern sci-fi of the struggles of a young man coming into an identity he doesn’t really want to but chosen to be out of solitude and he gets pulled out into the greater conflict.” Emerald is a lover of science fiction, fantasy, anime and all the geeky things. She draws and writes. Born and raised in Prince Albert, she captures every chapter with passion. Her favorite movies which affected her writing include Star wars and the Transformers. Hill is an alumnus of Carlton Comprehensive High School and loves hiking and writing “There is no easy way to put thoughts into words, I have to sit and stare at my computer hour after hours after hours putting down the thoughts as they come every day,” Hill said. “ Currently Hill is working on her next Novel which is titled “Whispers of the Dead” that portrays the life of one who should have been dead long ago but got trapped and the storyline unfolds from there. “This is my ‘baby’, I  had to work a lot of theological themes into it. Its so exciting, working my faith into it. I love that work.” “My family has been wonderful, my sister is my inspiration. She writes too and gives me all the encouragement,” Hill said. She said another influence was an English Teacher at Carlton. “She is huge in my life right now, even up till post graduation. She read my work and believed its good enough to be published. My Mum gives me all the support I need. My younger brothers gives me the spark even after I feel I am burn out. And my Dad introduced me to Sci-fi. So my family has been pretty supportive of my dreams.” She equally looking at republishing the Warlock in about five years. Hill said that appreciated her publishers and all who supported her in one way or the other. -Advertisement-
