The River Valley Resilience Retreat (RVRR) is inviting the Prince Albert Community to an unforgettable night of music, friendly competition and fundraising when they hold ”Sing It/Wing It”, a Karaoke Sing Off Night at the Rock Trout Events Centre. The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to midnight on March 21. The goal is to help raise funds in support of River Valley Resilience Retreat, which helps take care of first responders and veterans who served The Prince Albert community.“Everybody that knows us knows that we really like live music and we all like to sing so we came up with the concept of having a Karaoke sing-off fundraising event,” RVRR Communications Officer Evert Botha said. “Guests can book their tickets and enter to sing their favourite song.“They have a collection of three songs that they can submit and on the night we will go through as many songs as we can in the space of three hours. At the end of three hours we will have a quick vote to determine the top three performers and have the top three come and perform again and we will crown the Karaoke King and Queen for the Night.”The event will also have a variety of food options available for guests. There will be a Wing Bar that serves chicken wings as well as some vegetarian options, a mocktail bar, and regular bar services. This event is co-presented by local businesses Lakeland Ford, Hyundai and Kia. Lakeland Ford GM Brad Thibaudeau said supporting the RVRR was an easy decision.“The work they do for first responders, veterans, and frontline personnel is incredibly important, and it’s an honour to contribute to something that supports the people who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our communities.” said Thibaudeau. “This cause is also personal to me — my family has deep military roots, and I was born on a military Air Force base, so I’ve always had a strong appreciation for the sacrifices made by those in uniform and their families. We’re proud to stand alongside River Valley Resilience Retreat and help bring the community together for a great night in support of a truly meaningful cause.”Thibaudeau expressed his appreciation to all the RVRR’s sponsors and supporters in Prince Albert while encouraging residents to buy tickets online. A ticket goes for $60 for singles, $100 for a couple and $200 for a table of four.Last year the event was held in St Louis but the organizers decided to have this year’s night in Prince Albert.“We look forward to members of the community coming out to join us in a night of fun and entertainment, where the community will be the focal point,” Botha said. This year’s style of karaoke is novel as a fundraiser.“We wanted to do something different where everybody can join in the fun and everybody can take stage,” Botha explained. “This will be our first year of karaoke. If it goes well, we will definitely bring it back.”The deadline for buying a ticket and booking your favourite song will be the Midnight of Mar. 20.The menu for the night is sponsored by Prairie Cannabis. There will be a wide range of auction items that can be bid on during the “Not So Silent Auction.” Guests can participate as individuals or as teams.“Community support makes a real difference, and it is through music that a group of strangers and neighbors can become a true community.” Said RVRR co-founder Michelle Mckeaveney. “This event is a fun, welcoming way to come together, celebrate, and contribute to programs that support the wellness and resilience of our first responders and veterans.”River Valley Resilience Retreat aids first responders and frontline workers, public safety and military personnel, veterans and their families through peer-driven programming and initiatives. Proceeds from fundraising events help ensure these services remain accessible and impactful. Learn more at https://www.rvrrsk.ca or on your socials @rivervalleyresilience.
