Ryan Gosling recently got a little ahead of himself on the set of Saturday Night Live, where he’s been rehearsing all week ahead of his fourth — not fifth — time hosting.
In a promo shared Wednesday (March 4), the actor arrives at 30 Rock with a spring in his step, strutting through the halls and embracing his inner-diva as he chucks a lit cigarette into cast member Tommy Brennan’s drink and lights Mikey Day’s headshot on fire. At one point, Gosling hops on top of a faux horse and sprays champagne all over the SNL stage — until Day kills the mood by asking the show’s next host what exactly he thinks he’s doing.

“Five-Timers Club, Michael,” Gosling replies, pointing to his official SNL five-timers smoking jacket. “Read it and weep.”
Day then informs the Notebook star that the Saturday episode will be his fourth time hosting, meaning he still has another left to go before he joins the ranks of Five-Timers Club members such as Tom Hanks, Alec Baldwin, Kristen Wiig and John Mulaney.
“Oh my god, it’s just four,” Gosling realizes a little too late, before comforting himself with: “I’m sure someone’s made this mistake before.”
The upcoming episode will see the Golden Globe winner — who in 2023 became a Billboard Hot 100-charting artist with his Barbie track “I’m Just Ken” — helming the show as the Gorillaz step in as musical guest. Gorillaz also soundtrack the new promo, with their “Clint Eastwood” setting the tone. One week later, Harry Styles will pull double duty as host and performer.
Gosling previously hosted in 2015, 2017 and 2024.
