'Scary Movie 6' Is Coming One Week Earlier - Bloody Disgusting
Following the enthusiastic response to the trailer, Scary Movie‘s release has been bumped up a week to June 5. The sixth installment in the horror parody franchise will now open opposite Masters of the Universe. Its previous June 12 date would have pit it against Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day. Marlon Wayans (“Shorty”), Shawn Wayans (“Ray”), Anna Faris (“Cindy”), and Regina Hall (“Brenda”) reunite alongside to slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t final. 26 years after outrunning a suspiciously familiar masked killer, the Core Four are back in Ghostsface’s crosshairs. No horror IP is safe, with spoofs of Scream, Halloween, Longlegs, Weapons, Get Out, Smile, The Substance, Terrifier, and more. Franchise favorites Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, and Jon Abrahams are also back for the legacy sequel. The ensemble cast also includes Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, and Felissa Rose. Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs from a script by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans (Scary Movie 2), and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House). Scary Movie launched in 2000, followed by Scary Movie 2 in 2001. The Wayans brothers’ involvement ended there, but the series continued with 2003’s Scary Movie 3, 2006’s Scary Movie 4, and 2013’s Scary Movie 5.
