I’m real passionate about those antioxidants. It’s weird. I don’t even know what oxidants are, I just know that I’m against them.” Popular on Variety “It seems like whenever you eat something that’s yummy,” he continues, “there’s some oxidants trying to bring you down.” “Purple” was filmed at the Warner Theater in Washington D.C., and it’s executive produced by Wang, Wong and John Irwin via his Irwin Entertainment, Inc. banner. It marks a reunion between Wang on Wong, who directed the comic’s first special, “Sweet & Juicy,” in 2022. That was the first special directed by Wong, who went on to helm her own special “Single Lady” and Frankie Quiñones’ “Damn That’s Crazy.” Born in Taipei and raised in Houston, Wang started his career as a stand-up comic performing in San Francisco and New York. He landed a 30-minute Comedy Central special in 2011 and appeared on a showcase hosted by John Oliver the following year. He was in the top 10 contestants on “Last Comic Standing” in 2015. From 2015 to 2018, Wang served in the writers’ room for the ABC sitcom “Fresh Off the Boat,” appearing in two episodes of the show as Hank. Watch the trailer for “Purple” below.
