Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) will spotlight Taiwanese talents at this year’s Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) with the TAIWAN SPOTLIGHT SHOWCASE, a star-studded presentation set for March 18 featuring actors Yi-han CHEN and Kuan-ting LIU. Alongside the event, the Taiwan Pavilion will bring a strong market presence to FILMART with 243 film and television titles available for international buyers, underscoring Taiwan’s growing visibility in the global screen industry.
According to TAICCA Chairperson Sue WANG, several Taiwanese films have recently achieved strong box office results domestically, reflecting renewed audience enthusiasm for local productions. Building on this creative momentum, TAICCA aims to leverage FILMART’s international platform to introduce Taiwanese actors and creators to global partners while strengthening the long-term value and global reach of Taiwan’s cultural content.
One of the projects featured at the spotlight event is ADDICTED, directed by Fen-fen CHENG and starring Yi-han CHEN, Harry CHANG, and Tzu-hung LIN. Chen, whose recent blockbuster SUNSHINE WOMEN’S CHOIR surpassed NT$700 million at the box office, takes on a socially driven crime story that highlights her versatile acting range. She is joined by Harry CHANG, who gained strong recognition for his transformation into a memorable antagonist in GATAO: LIKE FATHER LIKE SON, and Tzu-hung, LIN, whose fan base spans Asia. The trio brings a combination of commercial appeal and acting recognition to the project.
Another highlight, HARU AND TAE, is led by award-winning actors Kuan-ting LIU and Ke-Fang SUN. Liu, widely regarded as one of the most distinctive actors of his generation in Taiwan, has recently drawn attention for his performances in films such as A FOGGY TALE and DOUBLE HAPPINESS. Sun, known for her emotionally resonant roles in LITTLE BIG WOMEN and the series ON MARRIAGE, joins him in a project that is already generating anticipation across Asian markets ahead of its release.
Beyond the showcase event, the Taiwan Pavilion will present a strong lineup for international buyers, featuring 115 feature films and 128 TV series across a wide range of genres. Highlights include the horror film SUFFOCATION, Taiwan’s first single-shot horror feature; the biographical documentary I DREAM OF THE OCEAN, about renowned Taiwanese ocean literature writer Syaman RAPONAN; and the restored classic CONNECTION BY FATE (2K RESTORATION), previously selected for the Venice International Film Festival. The TV slate includes ILA! LET’S LEARN TO COOK FROM THE LAND, which won Best Lifestyle Show at the 2025 Golden Bell Awards, as well as THE GREAT TIPSY 1980S, based on one of Taiwan’s top-grossing immersive theatre IP.
Taiwanese creators are also gaining visibility in international co-production platforms at the Hong Kong–Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF). In the In Development Projects (IDP) section, director Wai-yu CHEUNG ’s Hong Kong–Korea–Taiwan co-production MAMA MIA LET ME GO! demonstrates the potential of cross-border storytelling. The Work in Progress (WIP) lineup includes A GHOST IN THE MARKET by director Chia-hua CHUN, “A VAMPIRE, PROBABLY by Ken YANG, and WILL YOU STILL BE MY FRIEND a Taiwan–Singapore co-production directed by Po-Shun LU. In addition, the Taiwan–India co-production A LIFE FULL OF HOLES has been selected for the JFW and JAFF Market Sections, further highlighting the international scope of Taiwanese storytelling.
