Taron Egerton Catches Charlize Theron in a Bear Trap in New 'Apex' Images - Bloody Disgusting
Get caught up in new images of Charlize Theron as an hardened climber Sasha and Taron Egerton as sadistic hunter Ben in Apex, courtesy of Empire. Directed by Baltasar Kormákur (Everest, 2 Guns), the survival thriller streams April 24 on Netflix. “The environment, the geography where you make the film, it starts to inform the story and vice versa. Space and weather and landscape are a character in films. It’s very important to me to use it,” Kormákur tells Empire. “I try to drag the cast through hell — because they have to experience it!” “[Kormákur] was always the first one to fucking do the craziest thing that he was asking us to do,” Theron adds. “He knew what I was capable of. You want someone that can push you to a level that you can’t take yourself.” The film follows a grieving adrenaline junkie who sets out to conquer a menacing river in Australia, only to become ensnared in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse with a ruthless predator. Eric Bana rounds out the cast. Jeremy Robbins (“The Purge”) penned the script. Theron produces alongside Beth Kono and AJ Dix via their newly launched Secret Menu, along with Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, & David Ready for Chernin Entertainment, Ian Bryce for Ian Bryce Productions, and Kormákur for RVK Studios. Executive producers include Ray Angelic, Will McCance, and Dawn Olmstead for Secret Menu. Apex is rated R for “some strong violence, grisly images, nudity, and language.” Related Topics:APEXCharlize Theron Alex DiVincenzo You may like Charlize Theron Survival Thriller ‘Apex’ Rated R for Strong Violence, Grisly Images New Look at Charlize Theron in Netflix Survival Thriller ‘Apex’ 2026 Horror Preview: Over 50 Horror Movies We Can’t Wait to See This Year Click to comment Exclusives ‘Tender’ Trailer – Jesse Garcia, Jess Weixler, Robert Longstreet Star in Domestic Thriller Published 56 minutes ago on March 10, 2026 By Alex DiVincenzo Jess Weixler & Jesse Garcia in 'Tender.' Phooto by Ryan Geary. A slow-burn psychological thriller edges into domestic horror in our exclusive Tender trailer. Jesse Garcia (“From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series”), Jess Weixler (Teeth), and Robert Longstreet (“The Haunting of Hill House”) star in the film. Blending mounting dread with the claustrophobia of a crumbling relationship, Tender follows a couple trapped in a failing marriage and suffocating under debt who discover a hidden stash of gold buried within the walls of their home. What begins as salvation quickly curdles into obsession. As they devise a plan to offload the fortune and escape financial ruin, suspicion metastasizes, trust fractures, and the house itself becomes a pressure cooker of paranoia. Adam Hoelzel makes his feature directorial debut from his own script, which leans into the quiet terror of intimacy — the horror of realizing the person beside you may no longer be your partner, but your greatest threat. Shakira Barrera (“Ironheart”), David Koechner (Anchorman), Mark St. Cyr (The Menu), Sonja O’Hara, Stephen Ellis, Robert Peters, and Alexander Cubis (“Ruthless”) round out the ensemble cast. Producers include O’Hara, Sofia Rovaletti, Farrell Ingle, Theo Bucksey, Roy Hsu, Grayson Hay, Corey Moosa (Margin Call), David Hopwood (Den of Thieves), Michael K. Dwyer of A Group of Ferrets, and Juan Pablo Reinoso of Firebook Entertainment. “This film explores how desperation can rot a relationship from the inside out,” says Hoelzel. “We were interested in the psychological unraveling — the way fear and greed distort perception until love starts to feel like a trap.” Hoelzel — who recently wrapped production on the body horror thriller Snare, co-directed by O’Hara — will be participating in a narrative filmmaking roundtable at SXSW in Texas this weekend.
