Described as a “socially resonant dramedy,” the movie is executive produced by Grammy-winning artist and entrepreneur will.i.am and serves as Sundance alum Sterling Hampton IV’s (“Kylie”) feature directorial debut. Crews (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “White Chicks”) plays Frederick’s larger-than-life dad, Anthony, who “turns up the heat” on the situation. Hampton directs from a script by Sabrina Lassegue (“Tall Tales & Murder”), who also stars in the movie. Rounding out the ensemble cast are Bart Johnson (“High School Musical”), Lexi Underwood (“Cruel Summer”), Tim Johnson Jr. (“Saturdays”), Israel Johnson (“Bunk’d”) and Victoria Ogbonna (“Mean Boys”), with Sean Lew (“The Cleaning Lady”), Karly Rothenberg (“The Office”), Grace Wethor (“Saving Buddy Charles”) and Tevin Johnson (“Cross”) in supporting roles.
