The first trailer for Dune: Part Three is here and promises a bigger and wilder final entry in Warner Bros trilogy adapting the first two books from Frank Herbert’s popular Dune novel series. Here’s the first “teaser” trailer for Dune Part Three, which is set to arrive in theaters on December 18:
Denis Villeneuve, who directed the first two entries in the trilogy, is back for this final installment in the planned sci-fi trilogy. He’s directing a script he helped co-write alongside Brian K. Vaughan. This time around, Dune: Part Three is based on Herbert‘s 1969 novel Dune Messiah, the second book in the series. According to Warner Bros, Dune: Part Three is set 17 years after the last film. Here’s the official description of the film: It follows Paul Atreides, heir to unimaginable power, as he brings to fruition the ancient scheme to create a superbeing ruler among men, not in the heavens. Timothée Chalamet is back as Paul. Also returning is Jason Momoa, which is interesting if you watched the first movie, but makes sense if you’ve read the books. Also back are Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Charlotte Rampling. Meanwhile, Isaach de Bankolé and Robert Pattinson join the already large cast of all-star actors.
“If the first [Dune] was more of a contemplation, like a movie of a boy exploring a new world, and the second one being a war movie, this one is a thriller,” Villeneuve said at an event for the upcoming film. “It’s a more action-packed and more tense film, more muscular than the two others, I will say.”
