Rating unavailable.Women tend to disappear from the public eye as they age. Society is obsessed with youth, and young women bear the brunt of it. Tough Old Broads celebrates the achievements of three women, who are now in their golden years, by having them look back at how things have changed—and stayed the same—since they made their notable contributions.Across the three subjects—pioneering marathon runner Kathrine Switzer, civil rights photographer Sharon Farmer, and Inuk climate change activist Siila Watt-Cloutier—one of the defining features is attention. What can you do to make people care? How do you go from being a “first” to continuing to do work that matters? There isn’t an easy answer, but recognizing the wisdom of elders would certainly be a start. The documentary is set to start its Canadian theatrical run on March 6, ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8. Join the discussion Facebook comments not loading?
