Styles released his latest album ‘Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally’, yesterday (March 6), and to mark the occasion, also shared ‘American Girls’ as a single.
Advertisement Directed by James Mackel, the video sees Styles as an actor on a film set, taking on the role of the hero with help from two stunt doubles.
In a high-octane series of events, the pop star embarks on a cross-country motorcycle journey, manoeuvres a sports car underneath a semi truck, runs through a desert landscape carefully avoiding landmines, and does an impressive motorcycle flip against the backdrop of the sunset.

Speaking to Zane Lowe ahead of the album’s release, Styles said that ‘American Girls’ was “actually quite a lonely song in a lot of ways”, and added it was about watching his three closest friends get married.

“Seeing them trust in something and risk something to find something truly fulfilling in a way that isn’t as like shiny and on paper as exciting, watching them get married, I was like, ‘I’m single, so I’m having all the fun,'” he added.
“And ‘American Girls’ is actually about watching them get married, and there just is a magic when you find the right person that you want to be with. I think watching them do that and seeing that it doesn’t come without any uncertainty, it doesn’t come without any risk.”
In other news, Styles played his ‘One Night Only’ show at Manchester’s Co-op Live last night, where he debuted ‘Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally’, in its entirety.

Meanwhile, Styles has explained why he is hosting residencies in multiple cities instead of embarking on an extensive global tour. The singer has recalled how watching Radiohead perform in Berlin had inspired him to play live again, too.
He has also reflected on the death of his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne. “Full transparency, it’s like something that I, even the idea of talking about it, I struggle with that a little bit,” he said.
“It was a really important moment for me in terms of taking a look at my life and being able to say to myself, ‘OK, what do I want to do with my life? How do I want to live my life?’”
In a four-star review, NME described ‘Kiss All The Time…’ as “an album that you’ll really want to spend a lot of time with, letting all its layers envelope you”. It read: “It’s the most exploratory album of his career so far, trying out new things and steering his ship in new directions.”
