The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, hits theaters this summer and marks Holland’s fourth solo outing as the web-flinging superhero. In the clip, Peter Parker is faced with the new reality that his pals Ned (Jacob Batalon) and MJ (Zendaya) have forgotten their histories with him. He is also dealing with the possibility that his spider DNA is “mutating.” The trailer sees Parker seeking help from Dr. Bruce Banner, a.k.a. the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). Spider-Man: Brand New Day has teased several villains, some of whom can be glimpsed in the trailer. Spider-Man fights Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and Scorpion (Michael Mando), and other threats seem to be on the horizon. The official synopsis notes, “Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.” Trending Stories BTS to Deliver First U.S. Performance in Nearly 4 Years at Fan Event for New Album ‘A Beautiful Journey’: Ed O’Brien on His Stunningly Deep Solo Album and Radiohead’s Future Sean Penn Receives Special 'Oscar' in Ukraine After Skipping Academy Awards The Republican Party’s Nazi Problem Is Getting Worse. It will hit theaters on July 31. In October 2024, Holland talked about the upcoming Spidey sequel when it was still in the scripting stage. “Zendaya and I sat down and read it together, and we at times were bouncing around the living room like, ‘This is a real movie worthy of the fans’ respect,’” he said. “But there’s a few things we need to figure out before we can get that really going, but it’s exciting, and I’m really excited about it.”
